LET'S CREATE A PLAN THAT WORKS FOR YOU!

A Certified Carolyn Costin Institute Intern

Hi, I'm Caitlin

I struggled with an eating disorder for several years. I know what it feels like to need accountability, structure, and help in the “trenches” of recovery. It's scary and confusing to navigate alone.

I am here to help clients assess their motivation, and to be an advocate of their healthiest selves. Having been rigorously trained and supervised by Carolyn Costin, my approach is guided by her work using compassion, humanism, and authenticity.

In my own treatment experience, I found that having an eating disorder coach was pivotal to my being recovered. It was a game-changer for me, and I am forever grateful for the guidance I received.

Developing relationships with other people became more important to me than listening to my eating disorder self. By learning to have trust in others, and by reaching out, I learned how to navigate my recovery and the world around me. I learned how to decipher who and what I needed in order to build a better life for myself.

Being fully recovered is possible!

Coaching

I support clients in the here and now and serve as an adjunct to their treatment teams. I provide sessions that vary in time according to what each individual needs.

During the initial consultation, clients and I discuss recovery goals and develop a personalized coaching plan.

Meal Sessions

Virtual or in-person, I provide sessions to help clients improve their relationship with food. Meal sessions are integral for successful eating disorder recovery. Clients have the opportunity to challenge fears around specific foods and are able to process their thoughts and feelings before, during, and after each session.

Text Support

I’m available for texting and calling in between coaching sessions to provide extra encouragement and assist with eating disorder urges. Eating disorder thoughts are insidious and difficult to overcome on one’s own. Teaching clients to reach out is key to recovering from an eating disorder. Clients can learn to replace their eating disorder with relationships.

How Coaching Works

I combine mindfulness techniques and conscious eating principles while actively working with each client's motivation, patience, and hope during the eating disorder recovery process. Recovery from an eating disorder takes time and is full of ambivalence. I practice meeting clients where they are at.

I work with individuals and collaborate with their treatment teams in order to develop an integrated, goal-oriented plan.

I encourage clients to access their healthy self when making decisions. I teach clients to view their personal traits as assets instead of liabilities. I strive to be a recovered role model for clients and help clients connect with their mind, body, and soul. â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹

My approach is hands-on and transparent. I am trained to help in the present moment and to teach clients the importance of reaching out.

The primary focus in my work is based on the principles and assignments from the "8 Keys To Recovery From An Eating Disorder” book & workbook, written by Carolyn Costin & Gwen Schubert Grabb

"Being recovered to me is when the person can accept his or her natural body size and shape and no longer has a self destructive or unnatural relationship
with food or exercise.

When you are recovered, food and weight take a proper perspective in your life and what you weigh is not more important than who you are, in fact,
actual numbers are of little or no importance at all.

When recovered, you will not compromise your health or betray your soul to look a certain way, wear a certain size or reach a certain number on a scale.”
